Floating Frames
Floating means that your artwork sits on top of the matting / mount board as opposed to being partially overlapped by the mount board or lip of the frame.
This is ideal for watercolours or sketches on paper with rough edges, or when the image comes all the way to the edge of the paper.
When a canvas is framed (or artwork pasted onto a hardboard like Masonite, we can frame the artwork with a gap between the canvas and the frame, or we can ‘float’ the canvas on a board
A watercolour or print on paper with interesting edging can floating between 2 pieces of glass.
